Managed Capacity

Controlled scaling of IT capacity

Increase development capacity exactly when you need it – without losing control of architecture, budget or direction. One partner, three engagement models, clear rules and continuity.

Managed Capacity

What is Managed Capacity?

Managed Capacity is BOOTIQ's service for flexible, controlled scaling of your IT capacity. It brings together three proven engagement models — team augmentation, an autonomous development team and a hybrid model — in a single framework you can draw on as needed.

We become part of your team for a time — helping with prioritisation and advising on strategic direction and architecture. You retain the final decision and ownership of the direction. When needed, the same team also provides SLA-backed operations and on-call support.

This is more than a bodyshop waiting for instructions. We want to understand the context, propose a solution and take responsibility for the outcome, with access to the know-how of the entire BIQ Group.

Capabilities

The service pillars

Everything you need to scale capacity with control, from integrating specialists to long-term continuity backed by an SLA.

Team augmentation

Vetted specialists as a direct extension of your teams. You pay for work actually delivered, without a lengthy onboarding process.

Autonomous development team

A cross-functional team takes ownership of complete parts of the system — planning, developing, testing and delivering in line with the target architecture.

Hybrid delivery model

Start with a controlled fixed-price pilot, then move smoothly to a flexible model once the approach is proven. Low initial risk.

Seniority levels and roles

Developers, analysts, architects and specialists (IAM, SAP, Atlassian, BI). Choose the seniority level to match the complexity of the assignment.

Replacement policy

A replacement candidate with equivalent seniority; we do not charge for handover when the change is on our side.

Pause / Hold flexibility

Capacity allocation can be paused temporarily on fair terms, with a defined penalty-free allowance.

SLA and on-call support

The team developing your systems can also take over operations — with response times and readiness beyond standard operating hours.

Transparent reporting

Timesheets showing dates, activities and hours — with ongoing review and formal approval as the basis for invoicing.

Process

How Managed Capacity works

Every assignment starts with a defined scope. We develop the partnership gradually, based on real experience and current priorities, so the scope grows naturally over time and remains fully under control.

  1. Scope and estimate

We analyse the scope, clarify requirements and estimate the effort as the basis for starting work.

  2. Controlled start

We start with a smaller FTFP module or a targeted allocation to validate both the technical approach and the way we work together.

  3. Scaling

We increase or adjust capacity according to priorities and move to a flexible delivery model.

  4. Long-term development

The autonomous team takes ownership of complete areas, while internal IT retains control of architecture and strategic direction.

Capabilities

Working models

Three models we combine in practice according to the assignment, the level of uncertainty and the strategic importance of the solution.

Benefits

Benefits for enterprise delivery

What Managed Capacity brings to company leadership and IT management.

01Controlled scaling without fixed costs

Increase and reduce development capacity according to actual needs, without fixed staffing costs or the risk of excess capacity during a slowdown.

02You remain in control

Your internal IT team retains ownership of architecture and strategic direction. You continuously manage the scope and pace of investment based on actual value and returns.

03Lower risk than one-off projects

We reduce the risks of one-off projects and unmanaged outsourcing. A controlled start with a concrete deliverable lets you make decisions based on real experience.

04Operational continuity backed by an SLA

When needed, the same team takes over operations under an SLA and provides on-call support. Instead of depending on ad-hoc suppliers, you gain a stable foundation for long-term development and continuity.

05Fast onboarding without recruitment

When internal capacity falls short and you cannot wait for recruitment, we bring vetted experts who quickly find their way around enterprise projects.

06The strength of the entire BIQ Group

When needed, we involve the capabilities of sister companies across the group, from SAP and IAM through Atlassian and BI to design, and quickly find specialist experts for unique technologies.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

?How quickly can you deploy specialists?

With a framework agreement in place, we can work practically from day one, without unnecessary administration or a lengthy ramp-up. Consultants integrate directly into your teams as an extension of them and quickly find their way around enterprise projects.

?What if a consultant is not a good fit?

Our replacement policy applies. We provide a replacement candidate with equivalent seniority within a guaranteed timeframe; we do not charge for handover when the replacement is on our side.

?What do the SLA and on-call support cover?

We provide delivery and operations under an agreed SLA defining response times, availability and incident resolution. For critical systems, we offer on-call support beyond standard operating hours; we set the specific parameters according to how critical your systems are.

?How do billing and reporting work?

Under T&M, you pay for work actually delivered. We track activities in Jira / Tempo; you review and approve timesheets on an ongoing basis. The minimum billing unit is 30 minutes.

?Can we temporarily pause capacity allocation?

Yes. The Pause / Hold clause allows allocation to be paused temporarily under clear terms, with a defined penalty-free allowance per quarter and options for longer pauses (a standby rate or temporarily releasing the consultant with advance notice before resuming).

?What is the difference between a bodyshop and an autonomous team?

With a bodyshop, you manage the specialists and retain responsibility for the assignment. With an autonomous team, the team as a whole takes responsibility for the outcome; the hybrid model manages the transition between the two gradually.

?Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes, when multiple consultants are allocated at the same time. We provide the specific terms and rate card as part of the proposal.
