COLLABORATION CONTEXT
MND a.s. is the largest oil and natural gas producer in the Czech Republic. As part of its long-term digitalisation of business processes, it needed to replace a geological information system dating from 2000 that no longer met current requirements.
BOOTIQ designed and developed a new Geological Information System (GIS) – an internal web application for managing, recording and visualising geological data. The project ran from June 2024 to June 2025. The first phase followed a Fix Time / Fix Price model, with the second phase continuing through agile development.
Solution
Our work on the project covered business and technical analysis, solution architecture, application development, historical data migration and project management.
The collaboration also included the gradual rollout of individual modules, coordination with the MND team and a smooth transition from the original system without operational downtime.

Client challenges
- Replace the technologically outdated geological information system from 2000, which did not allow users to enter data directly.
- Unify geological data, attachments and metadata stored across several separate systems and manual processes.
- Migrate more than 120,000 historical attachments, remove duplicates and add missing metadata.
- Enable direct data entry from the field without time-consuming exports and imports.
- Introduce user roles and permissions that place responsibility for data accuracy with the data owners.

Project solution
The project began by replacing the geological information system from 2000, which no longer met current requirements for managing geological data. The first phase followed a Fix Time / Fix Price model and focused on building the foundation of the new solution.
After the first phase, the project moved to agile development, allowing additional modules to evolve gradually in response to user needs. Individual parts of the system were deployed continuously to avoid disrupting day-to-day operations.
A significant part of the project involved migrating more than 120,000 historical attachments and metadata records. This included deduplicating data, adding missing metadata and linking attachments to individual wells. A smooth transition from the old system without operational outages was also essential.
Following deployment to production, the collaboration continues under an SLA. BOOTIQ ensures the operational stability of the system and its further development in line with MND’s current needs.
Results
The collaboration resulted in a new Geological Information System that fully replaced the original solution from 2000.
The internal web application serves as a central tool for managing geological data across the MND Group and covers the entire lifecycle of a well – from basic records through laboratory analyses and production tests to the archive of geological data and attachments.
The system supports direct data entry from both the field and the office, multiple languages, and user role and permission management. Historical attachments are available in one place, and MND Group employees in the Czech Republic and abroad can work with geological data in a single system.
“For MND, modernising the geological information system is another step in the long-term digitalisation of business processes. The new solution represents a significant technological advance, meets current security standards and offers extensive opportunities for integration with other internal systems. We have introduced user roles and permissions, allowing responsibility for data accuracy to rest directly with the data owners. From a user perspective, the solution provides a modern, clear interface that meets today’s needs for working with data on our geological and production assets.”
Jan Havlíček, Head of the IPT Division, MND a.s.
“We were a priority for MND throughout the project. As a result, requests were addressed within hours rather than weeks. For us, this was an example of ideal collaboration, with exceptionally well-prepared materials and an open approach.”
Bruno Boris, Head of Strategic Accounts, BOOTIQ
