Conteg (OX Point)
parcel-loading success rate
parcels handled daily
locations across the Czech Republic
Brief
For Conteg, a leading Czech manufacturer of solutions for IT, data centres and industrial facilities, we developed an IoT system enabling smart lockers to be deployed in self-service luggage storage facilities and subsequently in a network of self-service parcel collection points.
Solution
Within six months, we built and operationally validated a smart-locker management system that enabled self-service luggage storage in five Czech cities. In the second phase, we expanded the solution into a robust management system for the full portfolio of smart lockers in the OX Point network, used for deliveries by Česká pošta and WE|DO.

Client challenges
- Create a management system for a portfolio of smart IoT lockers
- Integrate with Česká pošta’s systems
- Prepare for advanced functionality
- Achieve a high parcel-loading success rate
- Scale performance flexibly

Project solution
Lockers equipped with smart locks are managed by a platform built from 31 containerised microservices. These handle parcel management, locking and unlocking lockers, generating access codes and payment transactions through Global Payments and Sonnet terminals. Carriers and partners delivering goods to the lockers access the system through integration APIs. End customers use a screen on the lockers to enter their unique code and collect a parcel. All network traffic is secured through a VPN, and the lockers can continue working offline if the signal is lost.
Our solution currently processes over a thousand parcels a day at 270 locations across the Czech Republic, with a 95% parcel-loading success rate. We are also extending OX Point’s functionality, for example by enabling a mobile application to control a locker in place of its physical screen. This would reduce operating costs and allow the client to install lockers in more remote locations and smaller municipalities. We are also working on accepting parcels from individuals, allowing people to place parcels in OX Point lockers for dispatch.

What it looks like in practice

How Conteg (OX Point) sees our collaboration
“In less than 12 months, BOOTIQ, formerly Valatron, delivered a solution with integrations for suppliers and e-shops that matched solutions our competitors have been building and developing for over seven years. We are delighted that Conteg can focus on hardware manufacturing and business development while a reliable partner takes care of developing and operating the IoT system.”
