Stadtwerke Schweinfurt
from idea to production
top-ups compared with the counter
to the core infrastructure
Brief
COLLABORATION CONTEXT
Stadtwerke Schweinfurt operates the SWeasy Prepaid card, which residents use for public transport and admission to a sports and leisure swimming pool.
The project aimed to extend the existing solution with online credit top-ups without changing the existing architecture. The focus was on security, fast delivery and connections to existing systems.
The existing solution lacked an online top-up option, limiting convenience for passengers and the use of the service as a whole.
Solution
Based on the existing brand guidelines, BOOTIQ designed the UX of the top-up form, minimising the information users need to enter.
We also designed and delivered a standalone online shopping module that extends the existing system.
The project included integration with the Shift4 payment solution and connection to the SWeasy CAM system. Implementation required coordinating the integration with other suppliers involved.

Client challenges
- Fast delivery was a priority.
- Smooth integration with existing systems and participating suppliers was essential.
- The aim was to enable credit top-ups through digital payments.
- The entire solution needed an appropriate level of security.
Product scope
Services provided

- Design and delivery of the online shopping module
- Shift4 payment gateway integration

- Deployment to production
Project solution
The project began with an analysis of the existing solution and the design of the target architecture. Its main component was a standalone online shopping module connected to the existing system. The top-up process runs from the online interface through the Shift4 payment gateway to the credit being added in SWeasy CAM.
The modular architecture enabled deployment to production within eight weeks of the initial workshop, despite the need to coordinate with third parties. No changes to the existing core infrastructure were required.
The project included:
- requirements analysis,
- architecture design,
- development,
- testing,
- production deployment,
- post-launch support.
Results
The result is a solution for topping up SWeasy cards online.
It works as a simple online shopping module with credit top-ups, connected to the client’s existing systems.
