Brief
For Veolia Smart Systems, we developed a B2C application for smart-home management and a B2B platform for monitoring energy consumption.
Solution
Two separate IoT applications run on-premises in Veolia Czech Republic’s data centre. Chytrá Veolia is an application for end customers that allows them to monitor and manage their smart-home devices. Olivea Monitoring is designed for B2B partners, who can remotely monitor buildings’ energy use, manage them remotely, read meters, configure alerts and generate reports.

Project solution
Development was preceded by a thorough three-month analysis. We mapped the client’s needs, evaluated the costs of cloud versus on-premises operation and prepared a detailed development plan. A two-person team developed the household application over six months. A seven-person team worked on the B2B solution for almost a year in agile sprints. We optimised both applications to make efficient use of the computing resources allocated in the on-premises environment. The solution passed its final load tests with sufficient headroom to handle the anticipated peaks.
The B2B application is used by more than five thousand users from major property developers, while awareness of the other application is gradually growing among the general public. Our solutions help the client fulfil its vision and ESG commitment to a sustainable future by providing customers and partners with software tools for efficient energy management. We are gradually adding advanced features to further reduce consumption and the overall environmental footprint.
